PERU – After his double-double performance in the Hoops City Classic last week, Bobcat men’s basketball player Lyle Hexom was named as the Heart of America Athletic Conference’s (Heart) Player of the Week.

Peru State won a pair of games in Mitchell, S.D., as they defeated Dakota Wesleyan 112-110 in overtime and then topped Dakota State 88-81.

Hexom had 31 points and ten rebounds in the win over Dakota Wesleyan as he made 11 of 17 field goal tries, including hitting seven of eight from long range. He was a perfect two for two at the free throw line. In addition, he blocked four shots while adding one assist and one steal.

Against Dakota State, Hexom scored 20 points and added a season-high 14 rebounds. He also had three assists, two blocks, and one steal.

Presently, Hexom is listed in ten NAIA top individual rankings. He is second in both blocks per game (3.231) and total blocks (42).

This was Hexom’s first recognition as the Heart Player of the Week. He was the first Bobcat basketball player recognized this season.
