CRETE – After a long, first-game win 10-8 in ten innings over Doane, the Peru State baseball team dropped the second game 7-1 in Crete on Tuesday. This was the final non-conference action for both teams for 2019.
With the split the Bobcats are now 17-21 overall while the Tigers are now 15-25.
Only box score information was provided by Doane, so the recaps will be short.
Peru State will finish its season with a pair of Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) double headers on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the ‘Cats will host MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) beginning at 1 p.m. The Pioneers are 15-13 overall and are 13-8 in the Heart South.
Evangel (Mo.) will be the final regular season opponent on Saturday also beginning at 1 p.m. The Crusaders are 16-21 on the year and 6-17.
The four games will be key to Peru State’s post-season seeding with the Heart tournament beginning next week on May 1. The Bobcats will look to stay as the third seed in the Heart North which would keep them from playing in the play-in games which would take place on Wednesday, May 1. The tournament will be held again at the US Baseball Park in Ozark, Mo.
