Peru State Cross Country Competes in Largest Meet of the Year

PERU – The Peru State women’s cross country competed in their largest competition of the year as they ran in the Dean White Invitational Saturday hosted by Doane College in Crete.

There were 154 runners who finished the race with another 30+ competing, but not finishing.

While the Bobcats had a few improved performances, Peru State finished 13th out of 14 complete teams. Dordt (Iowa) won the Invite with a total of 56 points while Hastings finished second with 66. Northwestern (Iowa) was third with 87 with Morningside (Iowa) ending up fourth with 104.

For the third consecutive meet, junior Julia Zurek (Louisville) led the Bobcats as she finished 92nd overall and 63rd for scoring purposes. Zurek ran a time of 22:45.44 which was another person best as she cut another 29 seconds off her previous best.

Peru State will run next week in the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb., at 9:30 a.m.
