Peru State Cross Country Participates in MidStates Classic

WINFIELD, Kan. – It is annually one of the largest meets cross country teams will participate in annually and the Peru State women’s cross country team was part of it. Southwestern (Kan.) hosts the annual meet in Winfield, Kansas.

The meet features some of the top NAIA cross country teams, as well as, some of the best runners in the Midwest.

Wayland Baptist (Texas) won the meet with a team total of 37. Oklahoma City was second with 73.  Peru State finished 22nd.

The Bobcats were led by freshman Aubrey Wattier (Malcolm) who finished 129th out of 188 runners who completed the course in a time of 23:01.29. Wattier was 112th for scoring purposes.

Peru State will be off until Saturday, Nov. 3, when they will compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference meet which will be held in Atchison, Kan. The conference championship will be hosted by Benedictine College with the women’s race starting at 11 a.m.
