Peru State Drops a Pair of Volleyball Matches Saturday

PERU, Neb – While being close to nabbing wins in both matches played on Saturday, the Bobcat volleyball team eventually succumbed to two of the NAIA’s top teams.

In their first match on Saturday in the Bellevue University Labor Day Invite, the ‘Cats fell to the tourney hosts 25-22, 25-22, 25-22. The 20th-ranked Bruins improved to 6-2 with the win.

Peru State took Ottawa (Kan.) to five sets before falling to the Braves in their second match of the day 21-25, 25-14, 25-12, 19-25, 15-8 to Ottawa, who was receiving votes in the NAIA’s first poll, improved to 5-3.

The Bobcats are now 2-4 in the early part of their 2017 season.

Peru State will play their second Heart of America Athletic Conference match of the year on Tuesday when they host Mount Mercy (Iowa) at 6 p.m. in the Al Wheeler Activity Center. The Mustangs are presently 3-2 on the year having won their last two matches.
