Peru State Golf Participates in Midland Invite

PERU – On one of the best days of the late summer, the Peru State women’s golf team opened their 2018 fall campaign in the Midland Fall Invite on Monday. The tournament was held at the Fremont Golf Club.

The team, under the direction of new coach Sue Owen, finished eighth out of nine teams competing in the Invite.

Mount Marty (S.D.) took the team title with a team score of 346 with Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) finishing second at 352.

The other teams competing and placings were: third – Northwestern (Iowa) – 358, tie for fourth – College of St. Mary and Midland – 363, sixth – Doane – 369, seventh – Concordia – 371, eighth – Peru State – 404, and ninth – Hastings – 465.

Tressa Bull from Doane was the medalist with a six-over-par 79, besting 59 other golfers.

Bobcat golfer Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) started the fall season with a medal as she tied for 12th with an 89.

Vivian Brown (Wichita, Kan.) finished in a tie for 27th with a score of 97 while Emily Whipple (Lincoln) and Lindsay Harlow (Dawson) tied for 46th with a total score of 109.

Upcoming Meets

Peru State will be participating this Saturday, Sept. 15, in the Graceland University Fall Invite in Lamoni, Iowa.

The Bobcats will then have a break until competing in the College of St. Mary – Matthew Goette Fall Classic in Omaha on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
