MARION, Iowa – The Peru State women’s golf team began its 2017 fall season participating in the two-day Mount Mercy Fall Invite. It was held at Hunters Ridge Golf Couse in Marion, Iowa.
As a team, the Bobcats finished fourth with a two-day total of 758. Peru State shot a 380 on Saturday and followed with a 378 on the second day.
Mount Mercy and Bethany (Kan.) tied for first with a total of 691 with Mount Mercy winning the title with the playoff scoring. Waldorf (Iowa) was third with a score of 709. Placing fifth was Mount Mercy B with a 760 total. Other placings were: sixth – Graceland (Iowa) – 825, seventh – Southwestern (Iowa) CC – 899, and eighth – North Central (Mo.) – 1011.
Freshman Taylor Finke (Battle Creek), playing in her first collegiate tournament, was the team’s top scorer. Finke finished tied for 13th with rounds of 89 and 95 for a 194.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sept. 16 when they participate in the Graceland (Iowa) Invitational in Lamoni, Iowa.
