OMAHA – Having hardly been on the course at all this spring, the Peru State women’s golf team had a respectable finish at the College of St. Mary/Midland University at the Miracle Hill Golf Course in Omaha.
The Bobcats finished fifth in the 12-team field on Thursday. Briar Cliff (Iowa) easily won the tourney with a 310 team score. The College of St. Mary was second with a 340 while Concordia was third with a 343. In fourth was Doane at 352 while the Bobcats were fifth at 355.
The other team placings were: sixth – Midland – 358, seventh – Dordt (Iowa) – 362, tied for eighth – Mount Marty (S.D.) and Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) – 367, tenth – Nebraska Wesleyan – 380, 11th – Northwestern (Iowa), and 12th – College of St. Mary B – 387.
Vivian Brown (Wichita, Kan.) was the top Bobcat performer as she finished in a tie for 18th with an 86. Hannah Baldacci (Norfolk) finished in a tie for 25th with an 88 while Charleen Marsh (Bellevue) shot a 90 and tied for 31st. Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) was one shot behind Marsh with a 91 and tied for 33rd. Cathleen Marsh (Bellevue) finished in a tie for 64th with a 102.
Emily Whipple (Lincoln) also golfed and shot a 99 which put her in a tie for 59th.
Peru State is scheduled to host its own tournament this Sunday and Monday at the Table Creek Golf Course in Nebraska City. However, it appears Mother Nature could have some impact on the tourney.
