Peru State sweeps Dordt in home opener

PERU – In what was a new home opening date, the Peru State baseball team swept a double header from the visiting Dordt (Iowa) Defenders Friday afternoon at the Centennial Complex Field.

The ‘Cats won the first game 5-4 before blowing out Dordt in the second game 18-2.

With the pair of win, Peru State improves to 5-3 on the season while the double header was the first games of the year for Dordt.

Peru State will travel to Leavenworth, Kan., on Tuesday to face the University of St. Mary for a single nine-inning game at 2 p.m. The Spires are off to a 6-7 start.
