Peru State to open season at Cattle Classic

SEWARD – The Bobcat women’s basketball team will open its 2018-19 campaign on the road as they participate in the Cattle Classic hosted by Concordia in Seward this Friday and Saturday.

Peru State will open up against the host Friday night at 6 p.m. Then, on Saturday, the ‘Cats will take on the Doane Tigers at 10 a.m.

The Bobcats will be looking to rebound from a very tough 3-25 mark during the 2017-18 season.

Their opening game will be a big indicator as to how their 2018-19 season might go as the Bulldogs were voted as the number one team in NAIA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll.

Concordia has already played two games this season and have won both. Last year they finished 36-2.

Doane finished last year with a 7-21 overall record. They opened their season with a 67-55 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Oct. 25.
