LAMONI, Iowa – After a teammate missed a three-point attempt with a couple seconds left in the game, Bobcat Nolan Cass (Spring, Texas) grabbed the offensive rebound and put it in at the buzzer. It proved to be the game winner for Peru State as they topped Graceland 76-74 in Lamoni, Iowa, Wednesday night.
Four Bobcats finished in double figures and were led by Quantice Hunter’s 22 points.
The game, which was a Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division match-up, was a key early season game. At the end of the contest, both teams are now 10-7 overall and are 4-2 in the Heart North.
Saturday’s contest with Mount Mercy (Iowa) at 2 p.m. is another key match-up in Heart North play as both teams will enter the contest with 4-2 conference marks. Overall, the Mustangs are 9-7 on the year.

Graceland Pulls Away Late for Win
LAMONI, Iowa – The Peru State women’s basketball team saw a five-point lead after 30 minutes disappear Wednesday night in Lamoni, Iowa. The home-standing Graceland Yellowjackets outscored the Bobcats 22-9 to take a 65-57 Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) win.
Peru State had a very balanced scoring attack as two players finished with double figures with four others scoring six or more. Abigail Niebrugge led the team with 13 points.
Graceland improved to 5-9 overall and are now 2-4 in the Heart North. The ‘Cats fell to 3-11 on the year and are still winless in conference play at 0-6.
The Bobcats will be hosting Mount Mercy (Iowa) on Saturday at noon – two hours earlier than the normal start time. The Mustangs are 3-14 on the year and are also winless in the Heart North so one of the teams will get off the snide Saturday.
