PERU – The Peru State men’s basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak by beating #24 Graceland, 88-80, Saturday afternoon at the Al Wheeler Activities Center in Peru.
The Bobcats had five players in double-figures. Senior Quantice Hunter finished with a game-high 24 points.
Peru State improves to 17-11 (11-6), while Graceland falls to 18-10 (12-5).
There was still a glimmer of hope late in the third quarter for the Peru State women’s basketball team as they were looking to snap their long losing streak. However, the visiting Graceland Yellowjackets had other thoughts and slowly pulled away for a 17-point win in Peru on Saturday.
Three Bobcats finished in double figures as Lauren Beath led the way with 14 points.
The Yellowjackets eventually won 78-61 to improve to 7-18 overall and 4-12 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division. The ‘Cats fell to 3-22 on the year and are still winless in the Heart North with a 0-17 mark.
Clarke (Iowa) will be Wednesday night’s opponent at 5:30 p.m. The Pride are 17-10 on the year and are 9-8 in the Heart North. Clarke has lost their last two contests. It will First Responders Night and Peru State Staff Appreciation Night on Wednesday. Those in attendance will be recognized between the women’s and men’s game at approximately 7:00 p.m.
