PERU – Through nearly two-thirds of the volleyball season, the Peru State volleyball team and its senior middle blocker Nadja Janjevic (Podgorica, Montenegro) are listed among the NAIA team and individual leaders.
In addition, the team and some other players are in the top team and individual leaders in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart).
As of Tuesday, October 2, 2018, the Bobcat team is ranked 48th in total blocks with 141.500. There are 225 total school participating in volleyball in the NAIA during the 2018 season.
Janjevic is currently listed as 47th in total blocks with 70 which is nearly one-half of the team’s total blocks.
In the Heart, as a team the Bobcats are fifth in blocks per set averaging 1.8. The ‘Cats are sixth in total blocks with 141.5.
The following individuals are listed in the top ten of statistics in conference play: Janjevic – sixth in total blocks (70), seventh in blocks per set (0.9), and tied for seventh in service aces (26); Yorgelys Jaspe (San Carlos, Venezuela) – tied for ninth in kills per set (3.1) and tenth in total kills (236); and Claire Cudney (Marysville, Kan.) – tenth in total digs (328).
Peru State will be playing two games on the road starting tonight in Canton, Mo., when they take on Culver-Stockton at 7 p.m. They ‘Cats will then be off for one week before heading to Lamoni, Iowa, to face Graceland at 7 p.m.
The Bobcats will be at home on Oct. 12 and 13 when they host Mount Mercy (Iowa) and Clarke (Iowa). The game with Mount Mercy on the 12th will begin at 7 p.m. while the Clarke match will begin at 11 a.m.
