Peru State Volleyball Remains Unbeaten at Home

PERU, Neb. – Redshirt freshman outside hitter Mallory Matthies registered three of her four kills in-a-row during the fourth set and the Peru State College Bobcats volleyball team defeated Graceland University, 3-1, Tuesday night at the Al Wheeler Activities Center in Peru.

The Yellowjackets took the first set 27-25, but the Bobcats answered by taking the next three, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Peru State Head Coach Laurie Schroeder was happy with the way her girls adjusted after the first set, including good reads and foot movement.

“We were just point-for-point with them and I was like ‘well, let’s just go back to our pace of game and play our game, instead of going down to their pace.’ And that’s what we did!”

Junior outside hitter Kira Shapiro led the ‘Cats with 12 kills. Senior setter Meg Grose finished with 24 assists. Junior outside hitter Alaya Roberts had three service aces. Senior libero Cristina Viera ended with 33 digs.

Peru State improves to 5-7 overall, 3-0 in the Heart of America Athletics Conference, and will travel to Culver-Stockton on Friday.
