PERU, Neb. – After averaging 34 points per game in Peru State’s two games last week, Bobcat senior Quantice Hunter (Chicago) was named as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The Bobcats defeated Dordt (Iowa) 102-97 and then fell to NAIA DII #5 Northwestern 100-87 in the Northwestern College Classic in Orange City, Iowa.
Against Dordt, Hunter scored 27 points on 12 of 24 shooting and added five rebounds, four assists, and six steals.
In the contest with the Red Raiders, Hunter scored 41 points while playing the entire game. He made 12 of 23 field goals which included making eight of ten from long range. In addition, he just missed a double double as he grabbed nine rebounds. Hunter added two assists and two steals.
The 41 points were a career high for Hunter as he previous best was 26 points against Culver-Stockton in December 2015. His nine rebounds also matched a career best previously from 2015.
After the first four games of the Bobcat season, Hunter is listed in the following NAIA individual categories: second in points per game (25.25), second in total steals (15), sixth in steals per game (3.75), 14th in total scoring (101), 32nd in three-point field goal percentage (0.556), and 50th in total three-point field goals made.
