PERU – To highlight the second trip to a national men’s basketball tournament in 21 years, Peru State will host a “Watch Party” Wednesday night, March 7.
The “Watch Party” will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Student Center. What will you be watching? The NAIA will be announcing the 32 teams who will be in the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship. In addition, the NAIA will announce the pairings, as well as, dates and times, for the first round.
The public is invited and there is no charge. There will be food and drink provided. It is being hosted by the Peru State Foundation and the athletic department.
Brief messages will be provided by Peru State president Dan Hanson, athletic director Steve Schneider, Bobcat senior player Marley Biyendolo, and Bobcat head coach Bob Ludwig. The talks will begin at 5:45 p.m. as the announcements from the NAIA will begin at 6 p.m.
The Bobcats will be making a trip to the tournament by virtue of having a strong finish in the Heart post-season tournament. Peru State defeated Avila (Mo.) 80-73 in the opening round, Grand View (Iowa) 74-58 in the quarterfinals, and then upsetting William Penn (Iowa) 102-99 on the road in the semifinals.
For those unable to make the event, you can watch the Selection Show at NAIANetwork.com. Peru State will either play on Wednesday, March 14, or Thursday, March 15, with a time to be determined.
General admission ticket prices are: $20 adults (ages 13 and up) per day, $6 for students (ages 5-12) per day, and free for kids ages 4 and under.
