Weather-related changes for Peru State softball and baseball

PERU – The Peru State baseball double header scheduled with Sterling College in Sterling, Kan., for Tuesday, March 19, has been moved to Wednesday. The first game will begin at 1 p.m. with the Warriors. Presently, Sterling is 10-14 on the season.

This weekend, the Bobcats will be playing three games in Canton, Mo., against Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) foe Culver-Stockton. Game time each day is 1 p.m. The Wildcats are presently 5-13 overall and are 1-4 in conference action.

At this time, the next scheduled action for Peru State would be at home on March 30 and 31 against Mount Mercy (Iowa). The Mustangs are 8-11 overall and are 5-6 in Heart play.

Mother Nature is rearing its ugly head again in terms of the Bobcat softball schedule. This time it is forcing changes due to the flooding.

Peru State was scheduled to have played Mount Mercy (Iowa) here on Thursday in a Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) double header. However, the flood situation would force the Mustangs to be driving an extra six to seven hours to make it to Peru. The coaches agreed to move the game to the final day of the regular season – that being April 28.

The ‘Cats will play two conference double headers this coming weekend on the road in Missouri.

On Saturday, March 23, Peru State will be facing Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo., in a double header scheduled to begin at noon. The Vikings are presently 5-6 on the season and have not played a conference game to this point. However, weather permitting, they will face two Heart opponents before the ‘Cats hit town.

The next day, the Bobcats will face Central Methodist in Fayette, Mo., also at noon. The Eagles, who are receiving votes in the most recent coaches’ poll, are 8-6 on the season and will play six conference games before Peru State makes its appearance.
