Bellevue man dies while detectives attempt to investigate case, police say

A Bellevue man died Tuesday morning while Bellevue police were at a home attempting to investigate a case.

Detectives arrived at a home near 22nd Avenue and Hancock Street around 9:35 a.m. to interview 62-year-old Louis Albertson about a case they were investigating, according to the Bellevue Police Department. They made contact with a woman at the front door of the home and asked to speak with Albertson.

Shortly after making contact, the detectives heard what was later to be determined to be a gunshot from inside the house, according to the release. Additional officers responded at 9:38 a.m., and upon entering the home, detectives discovered Albertson with a gunshot wound. Albertson was later determined to be dead on scene.

The La Vista Police Department is conducting an investigation of the death with the assistance of the Douglas County Crime lab, according to the release.
