Bluffs man to be charged with attempted murder after police say he assaulted girlfriend

A Council Bluffs man will be booked on suspicion of attempted murder after police accused him of attacking his girlfriend with a knife.

A press release from Bluffs police does not say if the 43-year-old woman was wounded, and no further details on her condition were available.

Police were called to a home near North 37th Street and Avenue D at 6:19 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found the man in the street. He put up a struggle with police and was shocked with a stun gun.

The man, 41, was hospitalized for unrelated reasons, the press release said. Upon release, he’ll be booked on suspicion of attempted murder, two counts of harassment, disobeying a police officer and public intoxication, police said.
