An access ramp to northbound Interstate 29 in Council Bluffs was closed Thursday night because of damage caused during a crash.

It wasn’t clear Thursday when the ramp was to reopen, but it was expected to be closed at least through the night, according to Council Bluffs Police Sgt. Darren Budd.

The ramp, from eastbound Interstate 480 to northbound I-29, was closed after the side of the bridge was damaged by a semitrailer truck.

The semi was carrying rolled steel, and the steel unrolled onto the pavement as a result of the crash.

Bits of concrete fell onto West Broadway, which is below the ramp.

No one was hurt in the crash, according to emergency dispatchers.

Drivers wishing to head north from eastbound I-480 will instead have to go south on I-29 to the Ninth Avenue exit, where they can exit and swing back north on I-29.
