Gretna schools placed in lockout following nearby robbery

All Gretna school buildings were placed in lockout Wednesday following a report of a robbery at a local business.

During a lockout, all exterior doors remain locked and no one is allowed in or out of the building but classes proceed as normal.

A text message and phone calls informing parents and guardians were sent out by the Gretna Public Schools about 11:40 a.m., a spokeswoman said.

“As a precaution due to a robbery in town, all Gretna schools have been put in lockout,” the text read. “Check your email for more details.”

The Juice Stop at 11910 Standing Stone Drive was robbed about 11:20 a.m., said Greg London, chief deputy of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office. The robber displayed a handgun and left on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

Deputies searched for but were unable to find the robber, London said.

The lockout was called off at 2 p.m.
