2 Nebraskans killed in crash when car crosses center line and collides with semi on Highway 83

Two people died Tuesday in a crash north of McCook, Nebraska.

The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m., the Nebraska State Patrol said. A 1993 Geo Prizm was northbound on U.S. Highway 83 when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound semitrailer truck 9 miles north of McCook.

The driver of the Prizm, William Shanahan, 72, of Maywood, Nebraska, and passenger Georgia Connor, 64, of Stratton, Nebraska, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, Brian Els, 46, of Benkelman, Nebraska, was not injured.
