54-year-old Nebraska man dies after head-on collision in Iowa Friday night

A Nebraska man died in Hardin County, Iowa, on Friday when his car was hit in a head-on collision.

The Iowa State Patrol identified the man as David Pearson, 54, of Oakland, Nebraska.

His passenger, Cathy Pearson, 54, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Mason, Iowa.

The collision happened about 7:30 p.m. Friday. Brian Kerr, 25, of Evansdale, Iowa, was driving west on Highway 20 when one of his tires blew out. His truck crossed the median into eastbound traffic and hit the truck being driven by David Pearson.

Kerr also was injured and was airlifted to the same hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
