Grand Island Police Find Cocaine, Pot in Vehicle Blocking a Driveway

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Today’s tip for alleged lawbreakers: If you have cocaine and marijuana in your car, don’t block someone’s driveway.

Four Grand Island men were arrested Saturday night after a homeowner saw their vehicle blocking his driveway at 3212 W. 17th St.

Police were called to the address at about 8:30 p.m. The men were inside the car.

“When the officers arrived, the odor of marijuana was very distinct from the vehicle,” said Capt. Jim Duering of the Grand Island Police Department.

Officers found that the driver had a revoked driver’s license and also had marijuana and paraphernalia on him, Duering said.

“That led them to search the car and its occupants further. And they found cocaine on all three of the other occupants,” he said, adding that the cocaine was a personal use amount.

The three men were arrested on suspicion of felony drug possession. The driver was charged with a misdemeanor.
