OMAHA, Nebraska. – Rain, lightning and thunder slowed but couldn’t stop today’s first round of the state Soccer Championship.

Students from Grand Island, Lexington and South High are among the teams playing for the title,

“We all play together and that is what is  the most important thing,” says former South High player Miguel Luis Jacinto.

Families and friends also provide moral support.

“My grandson is a freshman playing at West High,” shares Pat Frost “And I took vacation time to come and watch. I am excited and I have been to a lot of his games and its great.”

All boys soccer coverage in Spanish will air on the NCN state network in South Sioux City (Channel 15.1), Norfolk (Channel 35.1), Columbus (Channel 48.1), Grand Island (Channel 30.1) and Beatrice (channel 21.1). The games will also be broadcast on www.ncnsportsnow.com and available on Roku by searching “News Channel Nebraska – Norfolk.
