Man shot in buttocks after friend misses target

LANCASTER COUNTY – A 19-year-old was injured after his friend accidentally shot him in the buttocks at a cabin near Malcolm on Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place at a cabin near 112th and West Mill Road. Three teenagers were at the cabin, and had a Vietnam War era protection vest, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said.

One of the teens, who’s from Waterloo, Nebraska, put on the vest, while one of his friends attempted to shoot it with a .22 caliber handgun.

The shot missed and struck him in the buttocks.

He suffered non-life threatening injuries, and LSO said alcohol did play a factor.

The situation is still under investigation.
