Opposing Soccer Coach Questions Player’s Gender

Omaha, Nebraska. – According to Milagros Hernandez’ family, “Mili” is an eight-year-old girl and she was disqualified from playing in a recent soccer tournament because she looks like a boy.

“I can’t comprehend what’s happening, she is a girl how can they believe she is a boy,”says Mili’s dad, Gerado Hernandez.

Mili says that she felt bad about not playing soccer last Sunday but she is optimistic she’ll play in the future.

“They saw me as a boy,” says Hernandez. ” But I am not really a boy just because I look like a boy.”

Mili says she is not discouraged and plans to train even harder.

“I am not going to quit,” adds Hernandez.

Her teammates and friends believe this is more than a misunderstanding.

“I see it as discrimination against her,” says Francisco Lopez a member of the organization’s boy’s team. “People should not make any assumption based on looks.”

“I think this is discrimination and this can impact Mili psychologically,” says soccer mom Silvia Ortez.

“I think this is racism,” shares Lucia Dias another soccer mom. “My hair is short too and I love cutting my hair short and that does not mean that I am a boy.”
