State Patrol crackdown leads to 180 speeding citations

The Nebraska State Patrol issued 180 speeding citations earlier this week during a statewide three-day crackdown on impaired motorists and unsafe driving habits.

The special enforcement effort, paid for in part by a $15,960 grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office, took place Monday through Wednesday, the patrol said.

Troopers said they also made several arrests and issued a number of citations accusing drivers of driving under the influence, having an open container, drug possession, driving under suspension, no proof of insurance, not using a seat belt and not using a proper child’s car seat.
