OMAHA/VALLEY – A heat advisory continues for all of southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa, northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas until 8 p.m. Thursday.
According to the weather service, highs will rise into the mid to upper 90’s today. Humidity values will remain fairly high, which will make it feel more like 102 to around 106 degrees this afternoon and early evening.
Meteorologists say heat illnesses are possible for those spending prolonged time outdoors or those more susceptible to heat illnesses, such as children and the elderly. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, so call 911.
A flood warning for the Missouri River continues in southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri. The river will remain near 19.2 feet until after midnight tomorrow. The river will fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.
