A 37-year-old Lincoln man was arrested this week on allegations that he abused a 10-year-old girl in a Lincoln park.
Bilal Amin was arrested Monday and cited on suspicion of possession of child pornography and felony child abuse. He remained in the Lancaster County Jail on Thursday and was ordered to be held without bail.
The Lincoln Police Department provided this account:
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. May 13, officers were called to Lakeview Park in west Lincoln on a report of an attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl by an adult male. The man reportedly pulled on the girl’s shirt and leggings, exposing her chest and genitals.
He then used his cellphone to take video, police said. Another child went to get help, and two neighbors ran to the park. A witness chased the man and called 911.
An investigation by Lincoln police and the Nebraska State Patrol led officers to Amin, who was arrested during a traffic stop on an unrelated shoplifting warrant. Officers seized Amin’s cellphone, which produced “corroborative video and audio,” according to police.
Amin is a registered sex offender because of a previous conviction for sexual assault of a child, police said.
