PERU – With a win over preseason No. 1 The Master’s (Calif.) already under its belt, LSU Alexandria (La.) ascended to the top spot in the first NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 poll of the regular season. The Generals received eight of nine first place votes with an 8-1 record.
The Master’s dropped just one spot with the lone blemish on its record while Carroll (Mont.), William Penn (Iowa) and Campbellsville (Ky.) rounded-out the top five.
The Peru State men’s basketball team finds themselves at 17th in the first poll having been receiving votes in the preseason poll. Three other Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) schools are in the Top 25 – William Penn – fourth, Benedictine (Kan.) – 15th, and Graceland (Iowa) – 25th. Another Heart school – MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) – is among those receiving votes.
Other than receiving votes in the preseason poll, the last time the Bobcats were in the poll was Feb. 13 of last season when they were receiving votes. Today’s ranking was the highest since the team was 15th in the final regular season poll in 2016.
