NEBRASKA CITY – The National Weather Service office in Omaha/Valley is now calling for two to six inches of snow across southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa, northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. tonight (Friday) through noon Saturday.
Snow amounts will be higher the farther south and east you go, so fans heading to Kansas City for the Chiefs’ playoff game Saturday should set aside an extra hour for the trip, said Jonathan Welsh of the weather service’s Kansas City-area office. Falls City is expected to receive 3 to 6 inches.
Travelers may encounter some ice on the way back.
“Just watch that commute time tonight and be aware if you’re going anywhere Saturday morning because of the frozen roads,” Albright said.
Rain will change over to snow either very late this afternoon or this evening as a large storm system moves into the region. Snowfall will continue into Saturday.
Meteorologists warn of travel difficulties, including snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving.
